The story

Cushions in Soviet ebonite — handmade, one of a kind, no. 96.

Ebonite began as an industrial insulator and as stock for mouthpieces, combs, and instrument housings, so Soviet reserves are dense, honest rubber without modern cost-cutting fillers. More on the material’s properties in the “Soviet ebonite” section.

Over time the edges ease slightly and the planes take on a deep, finger-loved sheen.

Handmade by Nikolay. One of a kind. Overall length 22 cm, weight 26 g. This piece is sold; we can craft a similar one to order.
