Whale bone is a material of a different nature than sperm whale tooth: not dense dentine but true bone tissue, lighter, more porous in structure, and warm to the touch. Read more about the material on the “whale bone” page.
The format shows best on smooth, pleasantly gliding, moderately heavy materials — mammoth ivory, amber, polished stone and dense wood — which give a clean run and a long, soothing rhythm.
