The material turns cleanly and densely, holds sharp facets, and polishes to a deep, saturated shine; the facets often reveal beautiful transitions and veining that are unique to each piece. More on the material’s properties in the “German colored ebonite” section.

The sound when they pour is collected and low, with a pleasant woody or bone-like click rather than the ring of round grains.
