The beads are turned from genuine branded balls, so the material has outstanding density, hardness, and uniformity: Aramith's phenolic resin was engineered to survive millions of impacts without chipping, cracking, or losing its shine. We cover the “Aramith billiard ball” material separately.

The form shows best on uniform, easily carved materials that hold fine relief — mammoth ivory, dense wood, horn and bone — where the carving comes out crisp and patina, over time, underscores every line of the ornament.
