The feel is distinctive: slightly "velvety," with a soft matte or satin sheen, warmer than stone and nicer than cold plastic; with handling it gradually builds a soft luster and a deeper tone — the prized hand patina. More on the material’s properties in the “micarta” section.

Carvers favour this cut because it offers two characters at once — the flats catch and return light in even highlights, while the rounded edges stay smooth in the fingers and never bite the skin during a long roll.
