In the hand mammoth ivory is noticeably dense and cool at first, but it quickly takes the warmth of the palm, seeming to come alive at the touch. More on the material’s properties in the “mammoth ivory” section.
Assembly demands jeweller's precision: the seams must be invisible and the materials close in density, or the bead will delaminate under handling.
