Mosaic in stabilized wood — handmade, one of a kind, no. 679.
The beads feel smooth and, owing to the resin, seem slightly cooler than ordinary wood at first but warm quickly in the hand; the weight is moderate, a touch heavier than natural wood, and the roll is fluid. More on the material’s properties in the “stabilized wood” section.
It shows best in high-contrast pairings — pale mammoth ivory with dark ebony and horn, amber with wood, coloured stone — where the material boundaries read cleanly and the pattern speaks at full voice.
