Peribory in mammoth ivory — handmade, one of a kind, no. 818.
Mammoth ivory is fossil bone that lay in the permafrost of Yakutia and Chukotka for ten to forty thousand years. More on the material’s properties in the “mammoth ivory” section.
The maker carefully balances calibre and the gap between grains: too tight and the flow bogs down, too loose and the rhythm is lost, so well-judged peribory are prized for their measured, almost musical run.
Handmade by Aleksey (Spin Chetki). Made once and never repeated. Overall length 28.5 cm, weight 50 g. This piece is sold; we can craft a similar one to order.
