The Hexagonal Pogon model consists of three rows. Its name comes from the central link, which is shaped with six facets and is therefore hexagonal. It should not be confused with the Classic Pogon , which is covered in the next guide.
Features and intended use
The model’s defining feature is that it can outperform the Strict Classic in comfort when spinning the helicopter. The cord is very easy to replace, just as it is in a classic model, even though each row consists of three separate parts. The replacement principle is exactly the same as on an ordinary Strict Classic .
The Hexagonal Pogon is ideal for the helicopter and looks especially substantial in the hand. It is a model that gives a clear understanding of how truly good worry beads should feel.
It is also noticeably more comfortable and controllable during spinning than the Classic Pogon , while changing its cord is considerably easier.
Additional information based on collectors’ real-world experience
The Hexagonal Pogon is said to be one of the oldest models and to have appeared as early as the 1990s, although I have personally found no direct evidence for this claim.
The model reached peak popularity in 2023, when I filmed a Soviet- ebonite Hexagonal Pogon in motion. The video received more than two million views on TikTok.
On 4 January 2024, I made another video predicting that the Hexagonal Pogon would become one of the year’s most popular models. I said that demand and the number of orders would peak for this particular form, and that is exactly what happened. Throughout 2024, makers almost universally named it the most popular model.
The Hexagonal Pogon is a unique model. It looks substantial in virtually any material, whether Soviet ebonite , Plexiglas, sperm-whale tooth or elephant ivory .
Hexagonal Pogons with rounded, full-bodied end pieces deserve special mention. They sound brighter and more resonant than flat ends and give the model a more expressive appearance.
When buying a Hexagonal Pogon, pay close attention to how the side links draw toward the central link. This is one of the most common mistakes made by beginners producing the model for the first time. Perfectly straight drilling prevents the central link from pulling tightly against the sides, creating play and allowing the parts to move loosely.
